Jay & Jay Industries were contracted by Main Roads division Roadtek to design and supervise installation of aquatic sediment booms to prevent sediment and debris from bridge works escaping downstream. Jay & Jay Industries were required to undertake this sensitive project in full view of the public so site safety and environmental compliance was extremely important. This project was extremely time sensitive owing to the sudden erosion of bridge footings due to extreme weather events closing a major arterial road. Work had to be undertaken immediately and the sediment issues were of primary importance.

DESIGN:

Completed in 2 stages to minimize site downtime. The complete catchment of sediment and debris from the top of the water column.

PROJECT SUMMARY

Design and manufacture a total of 60m of sediment booms to capture debris and sediment from the water column. Stop any migration downstream of bridge works and protect the ecosystem.
To support Main Roads in the environmental compliance with local and state guidelines for bridge works on aquatic ecosystems a series of enclosed work areas contained behind sediment booms to contain and stop debris from washing downstream.
